So, Why do we celebrate Hindi Diwas ?

Well, back in 1949, On September 14th, Hindi was adopted as one of the official languages of India.

It’s not just a language; It’s a symbol of unity, culture, and the incredible diversity of our country. Hindi Diwas is the perfect opportunity to celebrate this rich linguistic heritage with our friends and teachers.

Now, let’s explore how we can make this day memorable at school.

Idea Number 1 – Acrostic Poem

A lovely acrostic poem really inspire children in their poem writing. It is unique and interesting activity too. An acrostic poem is one that uses all the letters in a word or name as the first letter of each line of the poem. They are really easy and fun to write.

Here’s how they work – The word you pick can be as long or as short as you like. The acrostic poem doesn’t have to rhyme the best is to do in Hindi language but can also be done in English.

Idea Number 2 – Shlok / Doha Chanting

Slow prayer chanting has been a part of our tradition from time immemorial. The immense peace experience during the chanting is inexplicable.

By conducting Doha / Shloka competition students can recite the Dohas of famous poets and writers namely Surdas Kabir Das, Tulsidas and others.

The students will be judged on the basis of

Idea Number 3 – Short Notes on Famous Hindi Writer

In this activity students can write a short note on any Famous Hindi Literature Writer. Small children can only collect their picture along with name and make a picture collage.

  • Munsi Premchand
  • Rabindranath Tagore
  • Mahadevi Verma

After that they get familiar with our literary heritage.

Idea Number 4 – Slogan Writing

You can assign students to write slogan on importance of Hindi on prescribed paper format like A4 or A3 size. It will enhance their creativity and writing skill.

Idea Number 5 – Doodle Art

Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes and lines.

The Rhyming expect in poetry makes it easier for kids to lean new words and reading poetry regularly allows them to develop cognitive function.
