Respected Principal Sir and My colleagues. A very good morning to my dear students. Today I am going to speak a few lines about Mahatma Gandhi.
Mahatma Gandhi was a great and powerful leader of India. He was born on 2nd October 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Putlibai and Karamchand Gandhi were his parents. In Porbandar, he attended his first school. He was married to Kasturba at the age of 13.
He is also known as Bapu and Father of the Nation. Mahatma Gandhi studied law from England. He moved to South Africa to provide his service as a lawyer at the age of 23.
With so many experiences in South Africa, Gandhiji changed into a strong and courageous leader. He always fought against injustice. Once, he was thrown out of a train’s first-class compartment, despite having a first-class ticket. He was thrown out just because he was an India. After that experience, Gandhiji became the leader of the Indians in South Africa. He first used “Satyagraha’ or non-violent resistance in South Africa to fight against discriminations and injustice.
He back to India from South Africa in 9th Juanuary 1915.
He played a very important role to get India free. He went to jail many times. He was a strong supporter of truth and Non-Violence.
His birthday is celebrated every year as Gandhi Jayanti. Gandhi ji believed in simple living and high thinking. Gandhi ji was shot dead by Nathuram Godse on 30th January 1948.
