On this Kargil Vijay Diwas, let us remember the true heroes of our nation who laid down their lives for our better tomorrow.

Good morning to the honorable chief guest sir, respected principal sir, teachers and my dear friends. Today, I stand before you to speak about the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas, a day that holds immense importance for every Indian.
Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Victory Day) is celebrated every year on 26th July to commemorate the victory of the Indian Armed Forces war against Pakistan.
The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was fought between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir. In India, the conflict is also referred to as Operation Vijay.
It was triggered by the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and armed militants into Indian territory, which was a violation of the Line of Control (LOC) that separated India and Pakistan in the region.
Two months of intense fighting resulted in a victory for India, with the Pakistani forces withdrawing from the Indian territory they had occupied. about 2,00,000 Indian soldiers were deployed in the Kargil War. The Kargil war was fought at an altitude of about 18 thousand feet, in which India lost more than 527 brave warriors whereas more than 1400 were injured.
It is a day to remember the valiant efforts of the Indian Armed Forces who overcome extreme weather conditions, difficult terrain, and an enemy determined to take control of India territory.
Indian Army soldiers showed exemplary courage, valor, and determination in securing the nation’s borders. The day is observed with great reverence and respect for the brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated in India with various events and ceremonies. These include paying tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil War, flag hoisting, werath-laying ceremonies, and parades.
The Indian Prime Minister pays tribute to the soldiers at the Amar Jawan Jyoti in New Delhi. Other dignitaries, including the President and Vice President, also pay homage to the fallen soldiers. Military might of India is showcased with displays of weapons and equipment used during Kargil War.
On this day, the nation salutes the courage and spirit of the soldiers who laid down their lives to defend the country’s sovereignty.
The Kargil War was a test of the Indian Army’s valor, determination, and preparedness. The victory in the Kargil War was a symbol of India’s military might and proved that the country is capable of defending its borders against any external threats.
On this day, we should take a moment to reflect on the significance of our armed forces and the sacrifices made by them. We should also express our gratitude to the families of our soldiers, who have supported them in their duties and have faced immense hardships.
To conclude, Kargil Vijay Diwas is a day to remember the bravery and sacrifices of our soldiers.
