Respected Principal Sir, teachers and my dear friends, today I am here to talk about an important day, World Computer Literacy Day, celebrated every year on 2nd December. This day reminds us how essential it is to learn and use computers in our daily lives.
In today’s modern world, computers are everywhere. They are used in schools, offices, hospitals, and even at home. Knowing how to use a computer is as important as reading and writing. Computer literacy means having the basic knowledge to use computers for work, study, and communication.
World Computer Literacy Day was started in 2001 by NIIT, an Indian company. The aim was to spread awareness about computers, especially among women and people in rural areas who do not have access to technology.
On this day, many schools, colleges, and organizations arrange workshops, competitions, and training programs. These activities help people learn basic computer skills like typing, using the internet, or creating documents. Such efforts reduce the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not.
Being computer literate has many benefits. It improves our learning, makes job easier, and helps us connect with the world. With computers, we can solve problems faster, communicate instantly, and gain knowledge on any topic.
